Gyms were built for ears. We’re building for eyes.
AdvocateFiTT is a Deaf-centered fitness movement — behind Deaf expertise, beside Deaf pioneers, in service of Deaf culture.
The Problem
Most gyms run on sound: shouted cues, beeping timers, music-driven energy. Nobody designed it that way on purpose — it’s just inherited habit. But the result is the same: Deaf athletes train in spaces that were never designed for them, working around a system instead of being centered by one.
Deaf culture is not a disability. It is a complete, visual language and lifestyle. Fitness should be built for it.
What We’re Building
Visual Communicative Display — our complete visual coaching system. LED cues. Silent signals. Vibration alerts. Visual-first boards and signage. ASL-integrated instruction. Every rep, round, and rest period communicated the way Deaf athletes actually communicate.
Nothing accommodated. Everything designed.
The Path
Stage 1 — Community workouts. Free Deaf and hard-of-hearing group workouts in parks and community spaces. This is where we debug our methods and build the community.
Stage 2 — Personal training. One-on-one Deaf and hard-of-hearing personal training, leveled up with visual coaching technology.
Stage 3 — The Deaf-space gym. A full training facility built on DeafSpace principles, partnered with colleges and schools to teach the next generation of trainers to serve Deaf clients with respect and fluency.
Each stage stands on its own — and each one builds the next.
Who We Are
AdvocateFiTT was founded in 2026 by John and Rebecca Velasco in San Jacinto, California. We’re hearing allies building behind Deaf expertise — working beside Deaf pioneers, in service of Deaf culture. The expertise leads; we follow it.
